Internal Family Systems Therapy
WHAT IS INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS THERAPY?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a gentle, empowering approach to understanding yourself with more compassion and curiosity. It’s based on the idea that we all have different “parts” within us—like the parts that protect us, the parts that hold pain, and the parts that help us move forward. In IFS therapy, we learn to listen to and care for these parts.
Through this process, people often find a greater sense of balance, healing, and inner harmony. IFS helps you reconnect with your own wisdom and strength—the calm, confident core of who you are—so that all parts of you can feel seen, understood, and supported.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM AN IFS SESSION
In an IFS session, we’ll move at your pace—there’s no right or wrong way to begin. Together, we’ll create a calm, supportive space where you can tune in to what’s happening inside. You might notice emotions, body sensations, or thoughts that feel connected to different “parts” of you. I’ll help you get to know these parts with curiosity and kindness, so they can share what they need you to understand.
Rather than analyzing or judging your experiences, IFS invites you to listen inwardly and build a more trusting relationship with yourself. Many people describe sessions as gentle yet powerful—leaving with a sense of clarity, compassion, and relief. Over time, this process helps your inner system feel more connected, confident, and at peace.
